We're in the midst of global pandemic, hopefully a once in a lifetime experience, but many of you have begun to wonder if you're doing the right things to stay healthy. Many have shifted focus from the mentality of "live to eat" to "eat to live" so I'd like to share some of my favorite superfood secrets and wellness tips!
1. Start your day with a BIG glass of water with lemon 2. ActivatedYou capsules or probiotics (purchase via image above) 3. Eat MUSHROOMS Mushrooms are a huge part of my life and they should be a huge part of yours if you want a healthy gut, stronger immune system, sharper focus, less anxiety, and more energy. There are a variety of ways to get more 'shrooms into your life and the benefits are off the charts! Sneak mushrooms into an omelet, pasta dish, salad, or add to a sandwich. They can be roasted, sauteed, baked, fried, eaten in soups, top your ramen with extra, or drink mushroom tea. Variety is the key! Shitake, portobello, oyster, woodear, porcini, enoki, button mushrooms...most can be found at a specialty store or farmer's market if your local grocery store is limited. But, you can also try the following products to reap benefits without learning a million new recipes... The Four Sigmatics (linked below), Lions Mane, MudWtr.com. PS: Stay tuned for an entire post about psychadelic mushrooms and the powerful benefits for mental/emotional wellness PROVEN by scientific research and centuries of habitual use. 4. Drink Golden Milk every night before bed! 1/2c almond milk, 1/2 c coconut milk, cinnamon, local honey, and a few tablespoons of tumeric Heat over the stove and drink warm! Golden Milk is loaded with anti-inflammatory properties and can even help you fight corona virus! You're welcome; )
5. Eat more plants!
I can't stress the importance of a plant-based diet enough. This doesn't mean you have to be vegan or anything I try to eat plants 85% of my diet. When you focus on eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts, oils and grains, you'll hardly have enough room in your tummy for heavy meats and processed garbage. You'll feel more energized and have better moods and focus! I have a "Plant Based Foods" board on my pinterest page if you need some recipe ideas and I've made nearly all of them enough times they're habitual now. My favorite nutrient rich foods are eggplant, avocado, basil, tomato, berries, mushrooms, kale, spinach, cashews, cucumbers, celery, watermelon, mango, olive oil, sardines, mint, parsley, squash, greens, chia seeds, couscous, and onions. ALL are super good for you! BONUS: I'm also an advocate of Austin based company ONNIT and the supplements Aubrey Marcus and his team have created. Get you some of these! They're clean and top quality. Click image to purchase direct from amazon.
Keeping your gut healthy is the #1 way to BE healthy. No more meds! No more sluggish afternoons! No more restless nights! Fuel your body with top quality whole foods and supplements to power through life like a bad ass!
